Athletics

At Community Of Peace Academy, We Believe…

Athletics are an extension of the classroom and contribute to the lifelong development of the whole student.

Students have the opportunity to participate in quality school-sponsored after-school activities with direction furnished by a specially selected group of teachers and coaches.

The mission of the CPA Athletic Program is to create an environment that fosters respect, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship and a commitment to excellence. Competitive athletics instill in our student-athletes the lifelong values of accountability, integrity, structure and discipline. Our vision is to reinvent the urban school experience by providing opportunities for teaching, learning and growing in all student-athletes.

We believe that athletics is an integral piece of a student’s educational journey and that academics and athletics work together to develop the whole child on the field and on the court.

Through athletics, our coaches help our student-athletes develop socially and emotionally, building the skills of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and responsible decision-making, all while building relationships with their teammates, opponents and community members.

Athletics Online Registration

All registrations are done online through SchoolPay, our district’s online payment portal. All athletes must have completed the registration process to practice, try out or compete. This includes: MSHSL forms, a current health physical, Sport Specific Registration Form and payment.

The Activities Office must have a current sports qualifying physical on file before you can register online at www.schoolpay.com. Sports qualifying physicals are good for three years. If your physical has expired or if you don’t have one on file, here are a few options:

Visit your medical provider or clinic.

Stop by a Minute Clinic location at Target or CVS.

If our office has a physical on file, please follow these instructions to complete the registration process. You must have had one in the past three years.

Download the Sports Qualifying Physical form before your appointment. (Spanish)

If your family has not already completed a 2023-2024 Application for Educational Benefits; you can complete this (AEB) application (previously known as the free and reduced-price lunch application) log in at  www.schoolpay.com.

Select “Athletic Registration” and complete the 2023-2024 MSHSL forms and add them to your cart, process form payment of $0.

Next, click the SchoolPay banner at the top of the page and go into Athletic Registrations, all activities available for your child’s grade will appear. You may need to refresh the page if they don’t appear right away.

Select your activity, process payment and you will receive a receipt confirming that your registration is complete.

We never want finances to be a reason a student doesn’t participate. Payment plans and scholarships are available to all students, regardless of educational benefits.

Students registering for an activity or sport who cannot pay their registration fee in full may request a reduced fee for economic hardship. As stated in Board Policy, all requests will be reviewed, and additional documentation may be requested. Please email athletics so Community of Peace Academy can help create a plan that works for your family.

More information about all sports offered throughout the year are available on the Athletics page of our website.

All our athletic programs are part of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL). The MSHSL provides educational opportunities for students through interscholastic athletics and fine arts programs and provides leadership and support for member schools. On the MSHSL website, you can find a list of sports and activities, tournaments, ticket information and calendars. Other important resources include:
